NAMMU - National Association of Major Mail Users, Inc.
FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 2009

Dear NAMMU Member and Mailing Industry Colleague:

I want to bring the information provided by Canada Post today on new (proposed) Transaction Mail rate and specification changes to you as quickly as possible so you can evaluate and provide feedback to the Executive from your business perspective.

For your information, attached is a copy of the News Release and Backgrounder issued today outlining Canada Post’s proposed price changes which would come into effect, if approved, on January 11, 2010. Along with the other proposed changes, would you please consider carefully the three weight band announcement on over 200g – 500g and advise if this impacts your business, if so, were you consulted about this change. The estimated weighted average increase for this change is 7.1 per cent.

At the Board of Directors meeting yesterday, NAMMU Directors agreed a three point plan to encourage a real business process, meaningful consultation and lead time from our major supplier, Canada Post Corporation. While the changes noted in this announcement are in the Gazette stage, we will communicate this plan to the Minister as well as to Canada Post Executive. Please send your comments to executive@nammu.org and they will be considered when developing the brief.

Thank you – your comments, questions are welcome.
